Behind the design

Anyone from Youngstown in the late '80s and early '90s will never forget the lightning-paced, high-scoring, big-man-free spectacle that was the WBL (World Basketball League).

The Youngstown Pride was the dominant force of the league, with a franchise record of 153-92. The Pride won back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990, along with an impressive 42 straight at home. Home games were played at the Beeghly Center and drew between 5,000 and 7,000 fans a night in their heyday. The league folded in 1992, but nothing could take the Pride out of Youngstown.
