Behind the design

Schwebel's started in the small Campbell, Ohio kitchen of Dora and Joseph Schwebel, who baked fresh bread and sold the warm loaves door to door out of wicker laundry baskets.

Word of the bread's taste and unmatched freshness spread, and sales soon reached past their neighborhood to surrounding areas, including immigrant steelworkers in Youngstown. Before long, deliveries moved to horses and wagons as their reputation spread far and wide. The tee keeps it classic: the grinning face up top, the Schwebel's script, Estd. 1906, Youngstown, Ohio.
