Behind the design

Springfield's own Beau Brungard capped a record-setting 2025 season at quarterback for Youngstown State by winning the Walter Payton Award, given each year to the most outstanding offensive player in FCS football.

Along the way he collected All-American honors and multiple FCS and conference accolades, and led the Penguins with the kind of grit that feels like home. Then he chose to come back to YSU for 2026 with the same "earn everything" mentality. This one has Beau in caricature in his #12, with his signature, his 2025 numbers down the side and the Payton trophy beside him. A hometown hero who makes the Valley proud.
